Rob Ninkovich, linebacker de los Patriots, anuncia su retiro

El campeón del Super Bowl LI anunció su retiro este domingo después de 11 temporadas. Ninkovich estuvo discutiendo su posible adiós con el entrenador en jefe Bill Belichick por algún tiempo.

Ninkovich, de 33 años, firmó con los New England Patriots como una figura bastante anónima en 2009 después de pasar tiempo con los New Orleans Saints y Miami Dolphins. Desde entonces, ha estado a la altura del equipo.
Sin embargo, Ninkovich nunca logró alcanzar un Pro Bowl, pero costaría mucho encontrar un jugador más consistente y fiable durante sus años en Nueva Inglaterra.

En su carrera, Ninkovich realizó 460 tackles, 46 sacks y 88 golpeas al quarterback en 131 juegos (101 inicios). Desde 2010, Ninkovich es uno de los dos jugadores en la NFL con más de 400 tackles y más de 40 capturas, según NFL Research.
Ninkovich se retira como el quinto jugador de los Pats con más sacks en la historia de la franquicia, detrás de Andre Tippett (100), Willie McGinest (78), Chris Slade (51) y Mike Vrabel (48).
En 2016, Ninkovich tuvo 31 tackles, provocó cuatro capturas - empatado en tercera posición en los Patriots - y cinco hits al QB en 12 juegos. También se fue con el segundo Trofeo Lombardi de su carrera.
